Erica is the digital community organizer for Statewide Poverty Action Network. With the onset of the pandemic in 2020, much of the world shifted into working, gathering, and creating in online spaces. In this role, Erica strives to build authentic community in virtual spaces that elevate the voices and experiences of those most impacted by poverty across Washington state.
Erica is passionate about centering communities and promoting language access in policy advocacy spaces. She has a background in supporting low-income youth and families of color in accessing and succeeding in higher education (both in person and virtually). In this field she has learned the importance of taking time to build relationships based on trust when supporting folks to achieve their dreams. Some of her most valuable experiences have been when serving Latinx and Spanish speaking families and students.
Erica grew up on Vashon Island and after graduating from high school enjoyed living in various places across the US (upstate New York, Portland Oregon, and San Rafael California). She moved back to Seattle three years ago to pursue her Masters in Social Work at UW Seattle where she is specializing in Community Centered Practice and Practice with Latinx Communities. When she is not working or in classes you can find in Beacon Hill enjoying the good coffee and the epic mountain to sound views. Erica will complete her MSW in June 2023!
