An expanded and fully funded Working Families Tax Credit was finally passed by the state legislature in the 2021 session! After 13 years of our advocacy for the credit to be implemented, lawmakers listened and a $300-$1,200 annual state tax credit will go into effect in 2023. HB 1297 expands the credit to single adults and ITIN filers so more low-income Washingtonians can access the direct cash payment to pay for their needs. This is one significant step towards righting our state’s upside-down tax code!
